Job summary

Springfield Public Schools seeks an entry level Utility Maintenance Worker to maintain and repair district buildings and facilities, ensuring safety for students, staff and the community.

The position is Monday–Friday from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and pays $20.54 to $27.03 per hour with a generous benefits plan. A valid Oregon driver’s license is required; SafeSchools training and First Aid/CPR are encouraged.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Valid Oregon driver’s license required.
• Ability to complete SafeSchools training/certifications.
• Ability to obtain a valid First Aid/CPR card.
• Completion of trade school or equivalent preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assists with building maintenance and repairs including carpentry, painting, roofing, concrete finishing, hardware, glazing, floor and wall covering, sheet metal work, locksmith, and cabinetry.
• Assists in preparing surrounding area by covering with cloth or plastic to prevent messes.
• Moving furniture, equipment, and other hardware as necessary to reach the entire surface of the project.
• Assists in cleaning up supplies and replacing fixtures when the project is complete.
• Prepares work sites and carries equipment and supplies.
• Maintains and accounts for tools and equipment at work sites.
• Completes appropriate logs, forms and paperwork as needed.
• Assists in cleaning job sites at the end of the work day ensuring a safe environment for stakeholders.
• Keeps walk ways, parking areas and entrances clean and clear of debris.
• Operates vehicles, hand and power tools and other equipment at job sites and performs routine maintenance on tools.
• Maintains indoor and outdoor lighting.
• Works with accuracy and attention to detail and meets deadlines.
• Assists or substitutes for other maintenance personnel, as necessary.
