Job summary

Alpharus Health in Jacksonville, IL is seeking a dedicated Residential Substance Abuse Counselor to conduct assessments, develop comprehensive treatment plans, and participate in multi-disciplinary teams to support clients on their recovery journey. You will lead group sessions, provide individual counseling, and maintain accurate documentation in the EHR.

The schedule is Sunday through Thursday with day and evening shifts.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum 6 months of previous experience in substance abuse or mental health counseling.
• Related work experience in a residential treatment setting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Conducts assessment and evaluation to determine scope and type of care needed.
• Develops comprehensive treatment plans for clients.
• Participates in multi-disciplinary treatment team meetings.
• Leads group counseling and education sessions.
• Engages clients in one-on-one counseling sessions.
• Maintains confidential, timely documentation of client progress in EHR.
• Uses effective communication to guide clients toward positive choices, including during crisis.
• Mmonitor client behavior in therapeutic milieu.
• Administers tests of accountability (urine drug screens, breathalyzers).
• Makes community referrals for follow-up care.
