Job summary

Alpharus Health in Illinois is seeking a Substance Use Counselor for on-call, part-time coverage across residential and outpatient programs. You will facilitate group and individual counseling, document progress, and help ensure client safety and adherence to treatment plans.

Must have a high school diploma or equivalency with at least 6 months of related counseling experience in a residential setting. Shifts vary and may include days, evenings, and weekends.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalency required.
• Minimum 6 months of experience in substance abuse or mental health counseling.
• Related work experience with a program-specific population (adolescent/adult) in a residential treatment setting required.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and facilitate group counseling sessions, educational programs, and lectures to assist clients in meeting therapeutic goals.
• Conduct individual counseling to provide crises intervention, support & guidance, and address client behaviors and personal problems.
• Document clients’ progress and responses to treatment; maintain client records.
• Monitor clients in medication self-administration and ensure client safety and well-being.
• Schedule, coordinate and transport clients to appointments; maintain the vehicle; collect urine samples and administer breathalyzer.
