Job summary

Alpharus Health in Chicago, IL is seeking a Substance Use Counselor to join our residential program. The role is full-time and located at 3828 W. Taylor, Chicago, IL 60624, with a Mon-Fri 10:30am-7:00pm schedule.

Responsibilities include intake procedures, documentation, coordination with insurance, safety screenings, and developing individualized treatment plans within 24 hours of intake. A high school diploma and at least 6 months of related experience are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalency required.
• Minimum 6 months of experience in substance abuse or mental health counseling.
• Experience with a program-specific population (adolescent/adult) in a residential setting.

Responsibilities

• Participate in patient intake sessions and admission procedures.
• Complete initial sign-in documentation, including consent forms and emergency contacts.
• Assist in managing the detox unit environment and develop treatment plans within 24 hours of intake.
• Administer drug screenings and BAC tests.
• Schedule patients for admission based on availability and clinical criteria.
