Job summary

Par Pacific Holdings, Inc. in Tacoma, WA, is seeking an Operator Trainee / Utility Helper for our downstream operations. This entry-level role supports loading, blending, and process monitoring across refinery units with rotating shifts.

You will work under supervision to develop skills in valves, pumps, and safety procedures, with clear paths to higher permanent classifications up to A Operator. The position requires physically capable team players and commitment to safety.

Qualifications

• Legal authorization to work permanently in the United States for any employer without visa transfer or sponsorship.
• Basic math and conversion factor skills required for classifications.
• Comfort with rotating shifts in a manufacturing environment.
• Ability to pass pre-employment physical and drug tests.
• Ability to lift 30 pounds and work outdoors year-round.

Responsibilities

• Load/unload products at loading racks or railcar facility.
• Operate fired heaters and monitor boiler operation.
• Blend asphalt, emulsions, and/or motor gasoline to meet specs.
• Coordinate with operators, lab personnel, and drivers.
• Set up transfers to/from tank farm and process units.
• Maintain logs and unit records; monitor safety permits.
