Job summary

Par Pacific is seeking an Operator Trainee / Utility Helper in Tacoma, WA to join a growth-oriented energy company. This entry-level role offers progression through the Operations Department, including higher permanent classifications up to board operator levels.

You will handle loading, blending, and moving products, operate heaters, monitor boilers, and collaborate with multiple teams to ensure safe, on-spec production.

Qualifications

• Legal authorization to work permanently in the United States without visa sponsorship.
• High school diploma or GED; associate degree or vocational training desirable.
• Experience in manufacturing, refinery, or related process industry.
• Ability to pass a pre-employment physical and drug test.
• Willingness to work rotating shifts and overtime.

Responsibilities

• Load/unload products at loading racks or railcar facility.
• Operate fired heaters and monitor boiler operations.
• Blend asphalts, emulsions, and motor gasoline to specifications.
• Coordinate with process operators, lab staff, scalehouse, and drivers.
• Set up transfers to/from tank farm and process units.
• Respond to emergencies and use safety equipment.
• Assist in modifications to process equipment and monitor safety permits.
