Job summary

Actalent is seeking an entry-level Chemist I for our Bedford, OH site. This contract role focuses on supporting quality control operations, performing analytical testing, maintaining compliance, and documenting activities per cGLP/cGMP and FDA expectations.

The role offers hands-on experience with wet chemistry and instrumental techniques in a collaborative lab environment, with opportunities to grow within a rapidly expanding organization.

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in Science or related discipline (Chemistry or Chemical Engineering).
• 1 year of experience in a similar lab or QC role.
• Experience or familiarity with quality systems in a cGMP environment (preferred).
• Strong understanding of cGMP in lab operations.
• Familiarity with FDA expectations for lab operations.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a safe lab environment per OSHA and safety standards.
• Perform TOC and conductivity testing for WFI.
• Conduct nitrate analysis using wet chemistry methods.
• Perform identification testing using FTIR and other instruments.
• Execute in-process testing per established procedures.
• Support QA equipment validation and calibration programs.
• Manage lab data, SOPs, test methods, and reports.
• Maintain housekeeping and prep for inspections.
• Adhere to USP and EP methods in testing.
• Document all lab work per cGDP and cGLP.
• Recommend corrective actions for non-conformances.
• Support investigations related to cGLP and cGMP.
• Collaborate with peers to meet quality objectives.
• Troubleshoot basic lab instrument issues.
