Job summary

The City of Mesa is seeking a Public Safety Telecommunicator I to answer 9-1-1 calls and dispatch police, fire, and medical units. You will evaluate calls, provide pre-arrival instructions, and maintain radio contact with field units in a fast-paced environment.

Entry-level position with rotating shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays. A $1,000 signing bonus after training and another $1,000 after one year are offered; minimum qualifications include high school diploma or GED and 1–3

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 1–3 years public contact or customer service experience.
• Typing speed of 35 NWPM required.
• Must pass CritiCALL pre-employment test.
• Background investigation required.
• CPR certification within 60 days of hire.
• Not listed on LEIE database.
• Bilingual English/Spanish is desirable.
• Experience with data entry or multiline phone systems is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Receive, evaluate, and process 9-1-1 calls for police, fire, and medical aid.
• Dispatch calls and messages to field units for police, fire, and EMS.
• Maintain radio contact and coordinate with mobile units.
• Work in rotating shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays.
