Job summary

Hargrove Engineers & Constructors in Birmingham, AL is seeking an entry-level engineer to perform routine designs of less complex process engineering assignments under direct supervision. The role supports concept layouts, preliminary designs, and material take-offs while adhering to project standards and client specifications.

A Bachelor's/Master's in Chemical/Mechanical/Biochemical/Petroleum Engineering is required, with EIT preferred and up to 1 year of related experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Biochemical, or Petroleum Engineering.
• Engineer in Training (EIT) registration is strongly preferred.
• Up to 1 year of relevant industrial experience in chemical, petroleum or biochemical process design.
• Basic knowledge of chemical/biochemical process design engineering and chemical/biochemical process computer programs.
• Working knowledge of CAD software preferred, either AutoCAD and/or Microstation.
• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook; good communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Developing virtual team skills and cross divisional relationships, and supporting interoffice execution with direct supervision.
• Willing to travel as required for on-site work, project meetings, or training opportunities.

Responsibilities

• Promote safety culture and apply safety concepts into process design.
• Follow department standards, procedures, and guidelines.
• Understand project scope, specs, and design criteria on task teams.
• Assist in developing conceptual layouts and cost studies for simple, efficient solutions.
• Assist in producing preliminary designs and material take-offs for project estimates.
• Assist in producing detailed design calculations and construction material sketches.
• Aim for efficient construction and designs that meet client expectations.
• Help resolve routine layout and detailing problems with design leaders.
