Job summary

Cochise County in Sierra Vista is seeking an entry-level Probation Support Trainee in the Juvenile Probation office. The position is grant-funded and subject to renewal; after a one-year training period, there may be a non-competitive promotion to Probation Support Staff.

The role involves receptionist duties, file management, data entry, and support for court-related tasks while maintaining confidentiality and working within the probation department.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent and one year experience in performing secretarial or legal clerical work.
• Must possess and maintain a valid Arizona driver's license and the ability to be covered by county insurance.
• An equivalent combination of education and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved may be considered.

Responsibilities

• Answers phones and deals with clients and victims coming in for appointments (acts as receptionist); responds to routine questions from probation personnel and the public; sorts and stamps incoming documents; retrieves and delivers documents and files to various locations within the county’s probation offices.
• Maintains accurate and complete digital and physical files; files documents with the court; retrieves documents from the electronic case management system; receives and distributes incoming mail for the department; performs data entry; enters and maintains data accurately in automated case management system and maintain lists.
• Adheres to teamwork to help accomplish the goals of the Department; maintains absolute confidentiality of work-related issues, customer records, and restricted County information; may be required to travel to other offices for training and/or office coverage.
