Job summary

The County of Siskiyou seeks a Probation Aide to support field and administrative probation work under supervision. You will assist in case preparation, interviews, and monitoring probationers to ensure compliance with conditions.

Responsibilities include preparing reports for Superior Court, conducting interviews with offenders and stakeholders, collecting urine samples, and providing crisis counseling as needed. Some positions require driving and coordination with multiple agencies.

Qualifications

• One to two years of experience with juveniles/adults in probation or similar field with public contact.
• Alternatively six months in clerical/public service with court/probation exposure plus college coursework.
• An Associate's Degree in a related field is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Assist probation activities in field and office settings and prepare reports for the courts.
• Supervise a limited caseload and conduct interviews of offenders, victims, and others.
• Collect urine samples and review background information for probation compliance.
• Provide crisis counseling as needed and perform pre-sentence investigations.
• Represent the Probation Department in court hearings and coordinate with agencies.
