Job summary

RTX West Des Moines is seeking an onsite Machinist/Operator to set up and run CNC and manual machining centers. You will read blueprints, adjust feeds and speeds, and inspect parts with precision gauges.

The role supports continuous improvement and mentoring newer operators in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Expect to work over 40 hours as needed, with a focus on quality, efficiency, and adherence to EHS and CI guidelines.

Qualifications

• Requires HS diploma or equivalent (G.E.D. in US)
• Experience in machine operation is preferred
• Familiarity with reading blueprints and quality testing procedures

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate precision manual and/or computerized machining centers according to standard work.
• Adjust machine feed/spindle speeds and tooling per specifications.
• Read and interpret blueprints and specifications.
• Troubleshoot problems and assist with developing new machining processes.
• Suggest process improvements to reduce COPQ and improve efficiency.
• Inspect products using precision gauges and maintain quality records.
