Job summary

Alabama Power is seeking entry-level Plant Auxiliaries to support operation and maintenance of its generating plants. The role involves a variety of physically demanding tasks, rotating shifts, and availability for overtime and call outs.

Candidates should have 2+ years of related education or 1–2 years of manual labor experience and be able to work in confined spaces. Starting pay is approximately $26.78/hour plus benefits; relocation is not provided.

Qualifications

• 2+ years Secondary Education or Technical Degree (Industrial or Technical majors) preferred.
• 1-2 years of manual labor, construction, maintenance, electrical or working on heavy equipment preferred.
• Ability to work in confined spaces.
• Ability to perform physically demanding activities in extreme temperatures; stand, bend, kneel, crawl.
• Operate all equipment and hand tools as needed.
• Knowledge of mechanics, electricity, shop machinery, welding and piping work is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist in operation and maintenance of Alabama Power generating plants.
• Work rotating shifts and be available for overtime and call outs.
• Ensure safe handling of heavy tools and equipment.
• Maintain safety practices while performing tasks across plants.
