Qualifications

• Must be at least 21 years old prior to the entrance exam.
• U.S. citizen.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Valid Maryland driver's license.
• Meet Aberdeen Police Department physical agility requirements.

Responsibilities

• Patrol designated areas by vehicle and on foot to deter crime and identify violators.
• Respond to calls for service, evaluate situations, and take appropriate action.
• Interview victims, witnesses, suspects, and informants to obtain statements.
• Collect, preserve, and process evidence; detain suspicious persons; arrest when probable cause exists.
• Enforce traffic laws, operate radar and breathalyzer equipment, and investigate accidents.
• Inspect and maintain equipment, including vehicles and firearms.
• Manage paperwork and records; prepare documentation as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
