Responsibilities

• Perform work in an office environment with normal conditions.
• Work rotating shifts, including evening, weekend, and holiday hours.
• Provide close supervision from a technical superior; no supervisory duties or responsibilities.
• Exhibit minimal physical exertion.

Minimum Qualifications

• Graduated from an accredited high school or hold a GED certificate.
• Hold a valid Maryland Class C noncommercial driver’s license or an equivalent out‑of‑state license acceptable to the Office of Risk Management.
• OR possess a valid Maryland ID or an equivalent out‑of‑state government‑issued ID acceptable to the Office of Risk Management.
• Be at least 18 years of age and no older than 21 years at the time of appointment.
• Be a United States citizen.
• Pass a comprehensive background investigation, including federal, state and local fingerprint checks, a physical examination, an agility test, a polygraph examination, and a psychological examination.
• If a permanent legal resident, must be an honorably discharged veteran and have a pending application for U.S. citizenship.
• Maintain a clean driving record with no more than 3 points on the license.
• Show no illegal use of controlled dangerous substances, narcotic drugs or marijuana within the past 12 months.
• Have no current court orders related to domestic violence.
• Not have been dishonorably discharged from the military.
• Not have any felony or serious misdemeanor convictions; misdemeanors must be expunged from the criminal record.
• Not have been arrested for DUI within the past 5 years.
• Submit to a financial disclosure in accordance with Sections 7‑7, 7‑8 and 7‑9 of the City Ethics Law.
• Upon reaching 20 years and 6 months of age, successfully enroll in the first available entry‑level training class as a Police Officer Trainee at the Professional Development and Training Academy (PDTA).
