Job summary

Thorlabs is seeking an Assembly Technician Level I in Jessup, PA. You will assemble electrical, mechanical, and optical components for laser systems, record test data in ERP, and ensure adherence to detailed work instructions and cleanroom standards. Training covers use of sensitive instruments and precise assembly methods.

Qualifications

• 0–3 years of experience in electronics, fiber optics, photonics or related industry or specialized training.
• Proficiency with computers and Microsoft Office is required.
• High school diploma or equivalent (GED)

Responsibilities

• Build electrical, mechanical, and optical assemblies according to work instructions.
• Perform basic electronic soldering and crimping tasks per procedures.
• Operate sensitive production equipment such as fiber splicers and optical test instruments.
• Handle and assemble opto-mechanical components including fragile optics/fibers.
• Perform laser and accessory system alignments following procedures.
• Maintain data systems to record and report test results.
• Follow documentation for complex systems involving electronics, mechanical assemblies, and fiber components.
• Follow cleanroom protocols and maintain cleanliness in work areas.
• Provide continuous improvement feedback on procedures and processes.
• Meet output and quality goals.
