UVA Health University Medical Center is seeking Surgical Support Technicians (SST) for the Main Operating Room to support one of Virginia’s busiest perioperative environments. This entry‑level role offers onboarding and hands‑on training to launch or grow a perioperative career, with clear exposure to advanced surgical services and a magnet‑recognized academic medical center.

Qualifications

• HS diploma or equivalent required.
• 0 years experience required (1 year preferred).
• BLS certification within 2 months of hire; CNA or EMT preferred.

Responsibilities

• Set up and break down operating rooms to ensure readiness for each surgical case.
• Clean and disinfect OR surfaces and equipment following infection control standards.
• Sort and dispose of contaminated materials per hospital guidelines.
• Transport patients to and from Surgery while providing comfort and observing safety needs (Main OR only).
• Stock supplies, maintain equipment, and support efficient room turnover.
• Work cooperatively with the surgical team in a high-acuity, time-sensitive environment.
