Job summary

The City of La Porte is seeking an entry‑level Park Maintenance Worker I to perform semi‑skilled gardening and landscape maintenance, custodial duties and related tasks at city parks and facilities. You will work under supervision and help maintain athletic fields, medians and recreation areas.

No prior work experience is required; a High School Diploma or GED is required and a Texas driver’s license is needed. This is an on‑site position with physical work and outdoor conditions year round.

Qualifications

• No prior work experience required.
• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Possession of a valid Texas Driver's License.

Responsibilities

• Mow, trim, weed, and water parks, playgrounds, and medians.
• Operate power mowers, edger, and other equipment.
• Rake leaves, clean walks, fields, swimming pool and other facilities.
• Assist in maintaining athletic fields and other recreational facilities.
• Spade and otherwise prepare ground around plants and shrubs.
• Plant and maintain trees, flowers and shrubs.
• Pick up rubbish and paper, and perform general grounds cleaning
• Perform related duties as assigned.
