Job summary

Northwell Health in Danbury is seeking a Laboratory Technologist to perform tests analyzing patient specimens using manual and automated techniques, generating clinical information used to diagnose and treat patients. You will interpret data, maintain equipment, perform QC/QA, document results, train staff, and ensure compliance.

Bachelor’s degree required; ASCP certification preferred or eligible; zero to six months experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology or related field required.
• Zero to six months of experience preferred.
• Graduate of Medical Technology program; ASCP certification preferred or eligible.

Responsibilities

• Performs tests to analyze patient specimens according to policy and procedure.
• Interprets data and prepares patient laboratory reports; communicates results.
• Maintains biomedical equipment and performs routine maintenance.
• Performs QC/QA and manages reagent inventory with proper dating.
• Identifies and resolves problems; ensures proper follow up with staff and customers.
• Trains new staff, residents, and students; documents training for accreditation.
• Fulfills compliance responsibilities related to the position.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
