Job summary

Danbury Hospital is seeking a Laboratory Technician for the Blood Bank to analyze patient specimens and generate clinical information used to diagnose and treat patients. The role requires a Bachelor's degree and 0–6 months of experience, with ASCP certification preferred or eligible.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• Minimum experience of 0–6 months.
• Desirable: Graduate of Medical Technology Program and ASCP certification.

Responsibilities

• Performs tests to analyze patient specimens per policy and procedure.
• Interprets and enters data to prepare patient lab reports; communicates all results.
• Maintains biomedical equipment and performs routine maintenance.
• Performs QC/QA; manages reagents inventory and dating.
• Identifies and resolves problems; communicates with staff and customers for follow-up.
• Instructs new staff, residents, and students; documents training.
• Fulfills compliance responsibilities related to the position.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
