Job summary

SmithGroup's Washington, DC office is seeking an Entry Level Mechanical Engineer to join our team next summer after graduation. You will perform analysis, design and documentation of HVAC and plumbing systems under supervision, and contribute to energy and sustainability efforts.

The ideal candidate holds a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Architectural Engineering, is familiar with Autodesk Revit, CAD, and the MS Office suite, and has 1 year of related AE experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Architectural Engineering or equivalent required.
• LEED AP and Engineer-in-Training certification preferred.
• Minimum one year of related AE experience or internship would be advantageous.
• Knowledge of building codes and system standards beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Analyze, design and document HVAC and plumbing systems under direct supervision.
• Develop solutions with integrated architecture and engineering teams.
• Perform energy, heat load and CFD calculations using relevant software.
• Produce engineering drawings and document changes as instructed.
• Assist in construction administration as directed.
• Contribute to proposal materials when required.
