Polytex Fibers in Houston, TX, is seeking an Entry-Level Mechanical Engineer to join our Engineering team and support the design, development, modification, and improvement of manufacturing and packaging equipment.

This hands-on role suits a recent graduate eager to work on mechanical design and real-world manufacturing, collaborating with Production, Maintenance, Quality, and other departments to boost equipment performance, reliability, safety, and production efficiency.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or a related engineering field.
• 0-1 years of relevant mechanical engineering experience.
• Experience with 3D CAD software, preferably SolidWorks.
• Familiarity with AutoCAD or similar 2D drafting software.
• Ability to read and create mechanical drawings and basic manufacturing documentation.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Willingness to work in a hands-on manufacturing environment and spend time on the production floor.
• Ability to manage multiple assignments and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Design new mechanical components, tooling, fixtures, assemblies, and equipment using CAD software.
• Develop 3D models, engineering drawings, assemblies, and manufacturing documentation.
• Support the development of new machinery and modifications to existing production equipment.
• Assist with prototyping, fabrication, assembly, installation, testing, and validation of mechanical designs.
• Reverse engineer existing components and equipment when drawings or technical documentation are unavailable.
• Identify opportunities to improve existing manufacturing equipment and processes.
• Develop mechanical solutions that improve productivity, equipment reliability, product quality, ergonomics, and safety.
• Coordinate with internal fabrication resources, maintenance personnel, vendors, and equipment suppliers as needed.
• Maintain engineering drawings, project documentation, and technical records.
