Job summary

Vanderlande Logistics in Irving, TX is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to design, develop and maintain mechanical systems that move baggage through airport facilities.

You will design conveyors, sorters, carousels; perform analyses; prepare drawings and manuals; work with electrical engineers and maintenance teams to ensure seamless integration; and push improvements in reliability and efficiency.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field.
• Experience in mechanical design for baggage handling or material handling.
• Proficiency in CAD software (Revit, AutoCAD) and simulation tools.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical principles, materials and manufacturing processes.
• Familiarity with ASME, ANSI, ISO standards and aviation regulations.
• Excellent problem-solving and teamwork abilities.
• Clear communication skills with diverse stakeholders.
• Project management experience

Responsibilities

• Design and develop mechanical systems for baggage handling equipment such as conveyors and carousels.
• Perform feasibility studies and cost analyses for new designs and modifications.
• Collaborate with electrical engineers, project managers, and maintenance staff for integration.
• Carry out calculations and simulations to validate performance, reliability and safety.
• Create and maintain technical documentation including specs and drawings.
• Identify improvement opportunities and drive optimization with stakeholders.
• Support selection and evaluation of components and suppliers per standards.
• Assist troubleshooting and resolution of mechanical issues in operations.
• Stay updated on baggage handling trends and technologies to drive innovation.
