Job summary

Blue Origin in Huntsville, AL is seeking multiple early career Engines M&P engineers with a focus on special processes, welding/joining, additive manufacture, metallurgy and related areas to support liquid rocket engines. This role will directly impact design and manufacturability of engine hardware and help lower space access costs.

You will develop and qualify materials and processes, collaborate with design and manufacturing teams, and contribute to continuous improvement across development

Qualifications

  • B.S. degree or higher in Materials Science and Engineering, Metallurgy, Welding Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
  • Internship experience focused on materials and processes with an emphasis on materials design, process development, implementation, and/or qualification.
  • Exposure to definition and qualification of special processes such as welding, casting, forging, additive, or similar.
  • Experience working with Ni-based alloys, Cu-based alloys, and/or other materials common in aerospace propulsion manufacturing.
  • Ability to collect and analyze data and present results in a meaningful format.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and qualify materials and processes for liquid rocket engine applications.
  • Work with design, manufacturing and process engineers to implement and optimize materials for performance and cost.
  • Identify and apply mature state-of-the-art processes to manufacturing and develop process control documentation and quality assurance measure.
  • Develop materials test plans process and materials evaluation/qualification.
  • Own process and repair qualification across the development and production lifecycle.
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities for special processes.
  • Support day-to-day manufacturing through non-conformance disposition, manufacturing floor support, etc.
