Job summary

Navy Region Mid-Atlantic Fleet and Family Readiness (FFR) at the Yorktown Naval Weapons Station invites applicants for an entry‑level Maintenance Helper. You will assist journey level workers across multiple trades, performing routine tasks and supporting maintenance and repair of facilities.

Strong communication and a welcoming attitude are essential. You will help with general trades, document work orders, and coordinate with supervisors and contractors as needed.

Qualifications

• General knowledge of the specified types of work involved with the various occupational trades.
• Knowledge of safety and environmental rules and regulations concerning procedures, equipment, commonly used chemicals and basic safety is required.
• Must possess a welcoming manner, positive attitude, and effective communication with guests.

Responsibilities

• Ensure security of all guests.
• Ensure guest privacy is maintained.
• Perform recurring assignments and follow up on maintenance requests reported by guests or front desk.
• Assist in maintenance and repair work in at least two trades; maintain work order logs and report status to supervisor.
• Log trouble calls with contractors as appropriate.
