Job summary

Arktura LLC, a subsidiary of Armstrong World Industries, is hiring an entry-level Machine Operator I in Carson, CA. Under supervision, you will safely set up and operate production machines, perform calibration and cleaning, and monitor quality as you support the metals and felt value stream.

Responsibilities include loading materials, starting production cycles, documenting logs, and assisting peers. Requires a high school diploma or GED and at least 1 year of machine experience; bilingual

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED (Required)
• Minimum of 1 year machine operating experience
• Mechanical aptitude to operate and maintain machinery effectively
• Possess basic arithmetic and computer skills
• Comfortable using hand tooling and basic measuring equipment
• Understand oral and written instructions with ability to learn quickly, meet deadlines, and maintain equipment
• Communication and people skills; team player willing to learn
• Ability to work in a manufacturing environment (PPE, dusty/hot environment, stairs, standing, lifting)
• Ability to work off shift hours in support of plant initiatives
• Must demonstrate proficiency in core production roles within 90 days of hire
• Bilingual English/Spanish (preferred)
• Knowledge of G-Code (May be required)

Responsibilities

• Operate production machinery safely and according to procedures
• Load/unload, receive, and store raw materials and supplies
• Prepare machines for a production cycle and calibrate/clean
• Use CAM programs to monitor and adjust machine settings
• Perform routine checks, troubleshoot issues, and maintain logs
• Meet production and schedule requirements
• Perform minor repairs and routine maintenance on machines
• Assist peers and cross-train on other machines
• Identify product defects and report nonconformances
• Coordinate movement of parts to next operation
• Follow safety protocols and wear PPE
• Maintain equipment and work areas
