Job summary

OTC Markets Group is seeking an entry level Linux Engineer / SRE to join the IT Infrastructure team in New York City. This hands-on role is ideal for someone with a strong Linux foundation, scripting aptitude, and an interest in growing into automation, reliability engineering, and infrastructure-as-code.

In a hybrid environment (three days in office, two remotely), you will maintain Linux-based production infrastructure, develop Ansible playbooks, and build Python tooling to improve

Qualifications

• 2 years of Linux experience with core infra understanding (storage, backup, monitoring).
• Understanding of virtualization concepts (VMware or similar).
• Strong Python programming skills for scripting and IaC.
• Familiarity with web UI concepts and making API calls.
• Ability to write Ansible playbooks for configuration management.
• Understanding of GitHub and its automation capabilities.
• Strong written and verbal communication; team-oriented mindset.

Responsibilities

• Help maintain and support Linux-based production infrastructure.
• Write and maintain Ansible playbooks to automate configuration and routine tasks.
• Develop Python tooling and infrastructure-as-code to reduce manual work and improve reliability.
• Support monitoring, backup, and storage systems, and respond to issues.
• Use Git/GitHub for version control and contribute to automated workflows (CI/CD).
• Collaborate with the team on improvements to system stability, performance, and process.
