Job summary

The Sol Blatt Jr. Law Library at the Charleston School of Law seeks an entry-level Reference & Instruction Librarian to join a collaborative, service-oriented team.

You will provide in-library reference and legal research support for students, faculty, and patrons, and develop research guides and tutorials. You will lead instructional sessions, contribute to collection development, and support faculty scholarship through consultations.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in library and information science from an ALA-accredited institution or equivalent.
• Juris Doctor from an ABA-accredited institution (or equivalent).
• Proficiency with electronic and print resources and strong legal research skills.

Responsibilities

• Deliver reference and research assistance to students, faculty, alumni, and the legal community.
• Create instructional materials and lead formal and informal research instruction sessions.
• Collaborate on interdepartmental instructional initiatives and faculty support.
• Participate in collection development and prepare legal research guides and bibliographies.
• Represent the law school at professional meetings and conferences.
• Assist with exam proctoring and occasional evening hours.
• Opportunity to teach as an adjunct professor (additional compensation provided).
