Job summary

Stafford County is seeking an entry-level Landfill Maintenance Worker I to perform semi-skilled care and maintenance of the Regional Landfill facilities and equipment under supervision.

The role requires basic manual labor, the ability to operate trucks and lawn/landscape equipment, and strict adherence to safety procedures. A high school diploma and a Traffic Safety (flagging) certification (or ability to obtain within 6 months) are required or preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent and at least 1 year of manual labor experience.
• Traffic Safety (flagging) certification acceptable or ability to obtain within 6 months.
• Experience with lift body dump trucks desirable.
• Ability to operate and maintain landfill equipment safely.

Responsibilities

• Assist with operation and maintenance of landfill and equipment.
• Operate trucks and load containers and other landfill equipment.
• Perform custodial tasks and building/grounds maintenance.
• Unlock security gates and monitor vehicle access.
• Advise citizens on landfill and recycling procedures.
• Follow safety programs and procedures.
