Job summary

Atlas Surveying, Inc. is seeking entry-level Instrument Operators to join our field team in the Southeast. No prior surveying experience is required as comprehensive training is provided to develop core field skills and knowledge.

You will assist in setting up and operating surveying equipment, support experienced surveyors, and gain practical experience in land surveying fundamentals while contributing to accurate data collection and safety-focused operations.

Qualifications

  • In this role, no prior surveying experience is required; training provided.
  • Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a team and follow instructions.
  • Valid driver's license with clean driving record.
  • Physical ability to work outdoors in varying weather.
  • Lifts up to 75 lbs and handles physical labor.
  • Safety-conscious with a strong work ethic.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in setup and operation of surveying equipment such as total stations, GPS, and data collectors.
  • Learn surveying basics under experienced surveyors.
  • Hold survey rods, measure distances, and record data accurately.
  • Follow directions from crew chief to ensure efficient survey operations.
  • Maintain and transport equipment to and from job sites.
  • Adhere to safety protocols to ensure a safe working environment.

We're looking for motivated individuals to join us as Entry-Level Instrument Operators. This role is perfect for those keen to begin a career in land surveying, even without prior experience. As an Instrument Operator, you'll team up with seasoned surveying experts, aiding in field operations and gaining invaluable knowledge of land surveying basics. Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
  • Assist in the setup and operation of surveying equipment, including total stations, GPS, and data collectors.
  • Learn and apply basic surveying techniques under the guidance of experienced surveyors.
  • Perform tasks such as holding survey rods, measuring distances, and recording data accurately.
  • Follow instructions from the Crew Chief and other senior team members to ensure efficient and accurate surveying operations.
  • Maintain survey equipment and assist with equipment transportation to and from job sites.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and regulations to ensure a safe working environment for yourself and your team.
