Job summary

McCrea Equipment Company, Inc. (MEC) is seeking an Engineering Assistant in Temple Hills, MD to provide technical and administrative support to the engineering and design team.

You will assist with residential HVAC design, Manual J heat load calculations, permit documentation, and related engineering tasks. Training will be provided to develop proficiency in industry software, design processes, and HVAC load calculations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related field preferred.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work with technical information, measurements, plans and specifications.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills and ability to work effectively with internal teams.
• Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office applications preferred.
• Construction, residential HVAC, or building science experience is a plus but not required.
• Experience with RightSoft or similar HVAC design software is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assist with Manual J residential heat load calculations and related HVAC design calculations; training provided.
• Create and update residential house drawings using design/engineering software.
• Assist with sizing equipment and duct design based on project data.
• Prepare and organize permit documentation for residential projects.
• Review plans, calculations, and documentation for accuracy and completeness.
• Maintain accurate project information, files, and calculations.
