Job summary

The City of Fairhope is seeking an entry-level equipment operator to support various departments with light equipment operation and manual labor. You will follow detailed instructions, perform routine inspections, and assist with maintenance tasks across city projects.

Applicants should have a HS diploma or GED, at least 1 year operating light equipment, and be able to obtain a Class B CDL within six months. A valid driver’s license and ability to pass background checks are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum of one year of work experience operating light equipment in landscape maintenance or construction.
• Valid driver’s license; ability to obtain Class B CDL within six months; insurable.

Responsibilities

• Operate light equipment and perform manual labor for projects.
• Mow, edge, trim bushes/trees and maintain ROWs.
• Use power tools (lawn mowers, chain saws, etc.) and load/unload materials.
• Drive City vehicles to job sites and perform routine equipment maintenance.
• Assist with repairs and notify supervisor of equipment failures.
