Job summary

The City of Northport (AL) is seeking a Municipal Equipment Operator to support public works. Under supervision, you will perform heavy manual labor tasks in maintenance, trash collection, and basic infrastructure support.

Responsibilities include operating as part of a crew, mowing, installing water mains, and equipment maintenance. High school diploma and 1 year of labor experience required; valid Alabama driver’s license expected. Overtime and callouts may be required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Minimum 1 year of heavy manual labor experience.
• Must be able to operate standard tools and equipment used in maintenance work.

Responsibilities

• Operate as part of garbage and trash collection teams.
• Mow, weed-eat, and pick up litter along rights-of-way.
• Install water mains and fire hydrants as needed.
• Maintain and repair equipment and supervise safe operation.
