Job summary

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet is hiring a Highway Technician Assistant I in Carrollton, Kentucky. This full-time position involves basic highway maintenance, operating small dump trucks, snow plows, and mowing equipment, and may include surveying and traffic-control duties.

Minimum requirements include a high school diploma, being 18+, a valid driver's license with CDL within 12 months, and completion of First Aid and Snow & Ice Training plus Traffic Control/Flagger and OSHA 10

Qualifications

• High school graduate.
• Experience, training or skills: NONE.
• Must be 18 years of age and able to obtain a Class B CDL within 12 months.
• Within one year: complete First Aid and Snow & Ice Training; Traffic Control/Flagger and OSHA 10.

Responsibilities

• Operate a small single axle dump truck hauling materials to and from job sites.
• Operate dump trucks with snow plow and salt spreader.
• Operate a mower and assist in brush cutting; use chemical sprayers.
• Learn and assist with basic surveying or construction projects.
• Flag for operations requiring traffic control.
• Perform minor repairs and maintenance on equipment.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
