Job summary

INDOT's Plymouth Unit seeks a Highway Maintenance Laborer to perform general maintenance on Indiana highways, including trash pickup, pothole repair, drainage, snow operations, and traffic control during emergencies. This entry‑level role offers overtime for emergency operations and a Monday–Friday schedule.

A valid Class A or B CDL is required or must be obtained within 90 days. The job entails lifting up to 50 pounds and working in various weather conditions; CDL training is provided onsite.

Qualifications

• Must possess a valid Class A or Class B CDL or obtain one within 90 days.
• Pass and submit to a drug test as a condition of employment.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds.
• Ability to work in inclement weather.
• Ability to operate basic highway maintenance/ traffic equipment.

Responsibilities

• Comply with all INDOT safety policies and procedures.
• Operate highway maintenance/ traffic equipment to maintain roads and rights‑of‑way.
• Move and load supplies and materials.
• Perform winter operations duties including snow and ice removal.
• Perform emergency response activities such as clean‑up, traffic control, and signing.
