Job summary

Greenman-Pedersen Inc in Bedford, NH is seeking an Entry-Level Highway Engineer to join our transportation team. You'll contribute to planning, design, and delivery of highway, roadway, intersections, and traffic improvement projects while learning from experienced professionals.

This role offers hands-on experience, mentorship, and exposure to design software like AutoCAD Civil 3D, with opportunities for EIT certification and future PE licensure.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering is required or preferred.
• ABET-accredited program is preferred.
• Internship or co-op in transportation or civil engineering is a plus.
• Basic understanding of highway design and roadway construction.
• Familiarity with AutoCAD Civil 3D is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the design of highways, roadways, intersections, and transportation infrastructure projects.
• Prepare engineering calculations, plans, specifications, and technical reports.
• Develop geometric roadway designs using industry-standard engineering software.
• Support drainage, stormwater management, erosion and sediment control, and utility coordination efforts.
• Assist with traffic analysis and transportation studies.
• Perform field visits to collect data, evaluate existing conditions, and support project development.
• Coordinate with project managers, senior engineers, surveyors, environmental specialists, and other design disciplines.
• Review construction plans and contractor submittals for compliance with project requirements.
• Assist with permit applications and regulatory submissions.
• Participate in meetings with clients, contractors, and transportation agencies.
• Support construction phase services, including responding to requests for information and reviewing field conditions.
• Maintain project documentation and follow quality control procedures.
