Wyoming Department of Transportation (WYDOT) is offering a work-study Design Assistant position in Cheyenne. This program trains undergraduates in highway design principles while providing hands-on experience on WYDOT design teams. Students are encouraged to continue employment after graduation.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required.
• 0-2 years of progressive work experience in transportation.
• 1-3 years of progressive work experience in transportation (education & experience substitution).

Responsibilities

• Prepares plan drawings using CAD software for highway construction projects.
• Learns WYDOT CAD software and drafting requirements with training.
• Maintains filing system for design projects.
• Researches as-constructed plans and assists designers to meet deadlines.
• Participates in training on computer software related to drafting duties.
• Identifies and resolves problems by gathering information and proposing solutions.
