Job summary

Wyoming Department of Transportation in Lander, Wyoming seeks an Engineer I to develop, refine, and review highway construction plans, contributing to a safe and efficient transportation network for the state.

Working with limited supervision, you will apply engineering principles, perform design calculations, and use MicroStation and related software to prepare plans, estimates, and documentation while supporting ongoing projects and professional development.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Engineering required
0-2 years progressive engineering experience preferred
Knowledge of calculus, geometry, algebra, and trigonometry

Responsibilities

Develops, refines, and reviews horizontal and vertical alignments with minimal oversight
Determines dimensions and geometry of roadway cross-sections for excavation, embankment and haul quantities
Uses MicroStation and other software to design guardrails, culverts and drainage structures
Follows State, Federal, and Agency design policies and procedures
Calculates pay quantities for materials and prepares quantity summaries
Attends workshops to increase skills and train others
Issues intermediate plan sets and attends inspections
