Job summary

Concrete West Construction in Southern California is seeking a Groundsman/Laborer Level 1 to support installation crews by maintaining a safe, clean, and organized work environment. You will help with material and tool preparation, protect tenant property, and assist installers throughout daily operations.

This entry-level position emphasizes safety, with responsibilities such as acting as a spotter, setting up safety controls, and noting hazards.

Qualifications

• Entry-level position; previous experience in construction, general labor, warehouse operations, installation, or a similar hands-on work environment is preferred but not required.
• Experience working around construction equipment, ladders, lifts, or power tools is a plus.
• Basic familiarity with construction tools, materials, and jobsite safety practices is helpful.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds

Responsibilities

• Maintain constant awareness of surroundings to ensure personal safety and the safety of team members.
• Use cones, caution tape, and other safety controls to establish and maintain safe work zones when work is being performed.
• Actively watch out for teammates when equipment or materials are being moved and communicate using call-outs and hand signals as needed.
• Serve as a spotter for installers when equipment, lifts, ladders, or materials are being used or moved.
• Ensure work areas remain safe and free of hazards throughout the workday.
• Always wear required PPE and follow company safety procedures.
• Demonstrate teamwork and cooperation while supporting installers and other crew members.
• Follow company standards for professionalism while working in tenant-occupied spaces.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area at all times.
• Notify individuals nearby and cone off wet areas when mopping to prevent slip hazards.
• Clean tools, equipment, and materials regularly during the workday.
• Protect tenant workspaces by covering materials with plastic and installing floor protection to prevent damage.
• Assist installers by preparing and organizing materials and ensuring all required hardware is available for each task.
• Prepare materials prior to installation, including cutting threaded rod, lumber, or other components.
• Ensure installers’ carts or baskets are stocked with the proper tools required for each task.
• Tag out damaged tools and notify the Foreman when equipment requires repair or maintenance.
• Maintain reliable attendance and punctuality.
• Perform other duties as assigned
