Qualifications

Job description

Overview

Colliers Engineering & Design is seeking a highly motivated individual to join our Geotechnical group in our Allentown, PA office. As a Geotechnical Engineer, you will bring your expertise and unique solutions to highly visible and challenging projects. You will work with a team of dedicated Project Managers, Principals, and other Engineers. If you have a solid understanding of civil engineering principles with a geotechnical focus and a desire to work on multi-disciplinary projects, apply today!


Responsibilities

  • Participate in or lead field assignments, including observation of geotechnical explorations and installation of geotechnical instrumentation and monitoring.
  • Participate in construction observation and material testing.
  • Perform geotechnical analyses such as bearing capacity evaluations, stability evaluations, and seepage analyses.
  • Write field reports and engineering reports.
  • Prepare technical specifications, design drawings, and construction submittals for compliance with contract requirements and design assumptions.
  • Communicate effectively with contractors, clients, and team members.
  • Work environment may require exposure to weather conditions, moderate to loud noise, heights, and lifting weights up to 75 lbs for field density testing.
  • Some weekend and overtime work may be required; limited overnight and interstate travel may also be necessary.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering required.
  • 0-2+ years of experience.
  • EIT certification or ability to obtain it required.
  • Experience or training with geotechnical software such as AutoCAD, SEEP/W, SLOPE/W, SETTLE3D, L-Pile preferred.
  • Soils laboratory experience is a plus.
  • Certifications such as Nuclear Density Gauge Operator, ACI Level I Inspector, or ICC certifications are a plus.
  • Must have reliable transportation to project sites and a valid Driver's License with a clean record.
  • Drug testing may be required.
  • Ability to read, write, and understand English for job-related communications.
