Job Description

AECOM is seeking a highly motivated geotechnical engineer to support mine tailings, geotechnical, and heavy civil infrastructure projects as part of the mining group to telecommute for our Denver, CO office.

Job Summary/ Responsibilities:

• Performs specific portions of broader projects under the supervision of an experienced engineer.
• Planning, implementing, and overseeing geotechnical exploration programs (30% travel/field time).
• Developing geotechnical laboratory testing assignments.
• Performing geotechnical evaluations including material characterization, liquefaction, seepage, slope stability, and settlement analyses.
• Preparing calculation packages.
• Assisting with the development of geotechnical reports, drawings, and specifications.
• Preparing and presenting technical presentations of evaluation results to internal team.
• Review of geotechnical instrumentation and preparation of instrumentation monitoring reports.

Qualifications:

Minimum Requirements:

• BA/BS + 2 yrs of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
• EIT Certification or ability to obtain within 6 months.
• Valid U.S. Driver’s License.

Preferred Qualifications:

• MA/MS Civil Engineering with Geotechnical Emphasis.
• 4+ years of relevant experience.
• Basic Knowledge of industry software such as GeoStudio, Utexas, Grapher, and AutoCAD Civil3D.
• Field/Construction experience; tailings or dams experience a plus.
• Familiarity with design reports, drawings, and specifications.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Demonstrate proactive problem-solving skills.
• Ability to maintain organization in a changing environment.
• Exhibits initiative, responsibility, and flexibility.
• Resourceful, highly organized, and detail-oriented.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
• Effective time-management and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
