Job summary

Continental Fire Sprinkler Company in Omaha, NE seeks an entry-level designer to learn to read construction plans, prepare fire protection installation drawings, and perform hydraulic calculations. Training includes classroom, field, and self-directed learning to develop hands-on skills.

The role involves site visits, collaboration with teammates, and meeting project deadlines while growing technical proficiency in NFPA and Building Code concepts.

Qualifications

• Degree preferred in Engineering, Fire Protection Engineering, Engineering Technology, Construction Management or related field.
• Associates degree considered; 1-2 years of fire sprinkler design experience acceptable.
• 2+ years of direct construction related experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design fire suppression systems including wet, dry, pre-action, and foam types.
• Detail shop drawings and hydraulic calculations for review by architects and engineers.
• Prepare plan submittals and material submittals for authorities having jurisdiction.
• Coordinate fire sprinkler design with building structure and other MEP contractors.
• Prepare material stocklists for procurement.
• Assist scheduling, quantity tracking, and procurement activities.
• Support contract administration and communications with GC and authorities.
• Prepare as-built drawings for archive and client files.
• Research NFPA and Building Code requirements.
