State of Oklahoma is seeking a Fire Prevention & Security Officer I. This position patrols and inspects buildings and grounds to detect and eliminate fire hazards, enforces laws and provides security against acts of terrorism for state facilities, employees and the public. Duties may include directing traffic and assisting visitors during events or emergencies.

Education and experience requirements are none at this entry level. Compensation is $14.47 per hour for full-time, regular employment.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of security methods and fire prevention theory.
• Ability to maintain effective working relationships and follow instructions.
• Proficiency in English to perform duties.

Responsibilities

• Inspect buildings and grounds to detect and eliminate fire hazards.
• Enforce rules and safeguard life and property at facilities.
• Respond to fire alarms and control access to premises; assist in emergencies.
• Ventilate buildings and assist in rescue during fires or emergencies.
• Check authorized persons in or out and deny access to unauthorized individuals.
• Prepare oral and written reports of activities and incidents.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
