Job summary

ECS Group of Companies in Birmingham is seeking a Field Technician with no prior experience. You will learn under experienced technicians and receive paid training, with certification fees covered by ECS.

Responsibilities include field sampling, testing soils/aggregates/concrete, data collection, and clear communication with site teams. Career development supports OSHA 10, ACI, ASNT, and other certifications as you grow.

Qualifications

• No experience required.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Must be able to lift a minimum of 85 pounds.
• Valid driver's license and insurance.
• Willing to develop understanding of heavy construction safety and CMT principles.
• OSHA 10 certification may be required.
• Strong communication skills.
• Ability to work with contractors, peers, and supervisors.

Responsibilities

• Field activities: observe, test, and sample soils, aggregates, and concrete on sites under guidance of senior staff.
• Perform routine field and/or laboratory tests for soils, aggregates, and concrete following industry standards.
• Collect and reduce data from sampling, tests, and inspections; assist with calculations and drafting as requested.
• Maintain daily communication with site contractors and project managers; report test needs and site changes.
• Receive training in ECS methodology and document findings with engineering precision.
