Job summary

ECS Group of Companies is seeking a motivated Construction Materials Testing (CMT) Field Technician to join our Columbia team. This entry-level role emphasizes field observations, data collection, and basic testing under supervision to build foundational skills.

With zero years’ experience required, you’ll gain hands-on experience and certifications through ECS programs while supporting project execution and client communications on site.

Qualifications

• 0 years of related experience or entry-level.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Obtain basic certifications per policy.
• Valid driver's license if driving for ECS.
• Good communication skills (written and verbal).
• Dependable, self-motivated and detail-oriented.
• Basic math, data entry, and reading plans.
• Comfort with tablets/phones/laptops.
• Able to lift up to ~85 lbs safely.
• Read maps, follow directions, and interpret plans.

Responsibilities

• Perform field observation, testing, and sampling of soil, aggregates, and concrete under supervision.
• Assist with construction materials testing activities on sites.
• Communicate daily with contractors, technicians, and project managers.
• Report changing site conditions and testing needs to supervisors.
• Assist in daily field report preparation and submission.
• Support basic calculations and data entry of testing results.
• Organize and maintain field equipment.
• Notify supervisors of damaged or missing equipment.
• Participate in project meetings as requested.
• Perform other field and project-support duties as assigned.
