Job summary

ECS Limited is seeking a Field Technician for our Birmingham team. No experience is required as youll train on the job under seasoned professionals, with certification fees paid. Youll perform field tests and data collection, coordinating with project managers to ensure accurate results.

Youll gain hands-on experience with soils, aggregates, and concrete while learning ECS methodologies and safety practices; lifting up to 85 pounds is required, and OSHA 10 may be needed.

Qualifications

• No experience required.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Must be able to lift a minimum of 85 pounds.
• Must have valid driver’s license and insurance.
• Willing to develop understanding of heavy construction safety, practices, and procedures.
• Willing to obtain knowledge of CMT principles and ASTM laboratory standards, leading to certifications in soils, concrete, and radiation safety.
• OSHA 10 certification may be required.
• Strong communication skills (speaking, reading, and writing).
• Ability to work effectively with contractors, peers, and supervisors.

Responsibilities

• Conduct observation, testing, and sampling of soils, aggregates, and concrete on project sites; perform tasks under guidance of senior technicians, staff professionals, and project managers.
• Conduct routine field and/or laboratory tests for soils, aggregates, and concrete using various methodologies and testing equipment.
• Perform calculations and data reduction based on sampling, test results, and inspection; assist with calculations, drafting, and other admin duties as requested.
• Maintain daily communication with site contractors, fellow technicians, and project managers; communicate changing site conditions and additional requested testing to supervisor; attend project meetings as requested; assist with organization of field equipment and notify supervisor of broken or missing equipment as needed.
• Receive training in ECS methodology for project observations, inspections, and testing; document findings with precision in accordance with accepted engineering practices.
