Job summary

Virginia Department of Social Services in Culpeper County, VA is seeking an entry-level Family Services Specialist I to train in Adult/Adult Protective Services, Child Protective Services, Foster care/adoption, and Employment Services.

Under supervision you will perform routine to journey-level casework, develop service plans, and coordinate with other agencies while gaining eligibility for full-performance level after training.

Qualifications

• Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in a Human Services field or a Bachelor's degree in any field with two years of related experience.
• Possession of a BSW or MSW degree and a Virginia Social Worker license desirable.
• All applicants are subject to employment verification and reference checks, verification of education, a DMV/driving record check, Central Registry check and criminal history check.

Responsibilities

• Interpret laws, policies and regulations as applied to specific area of responsibility.
• Coordinate services within specific area of responsibility; monitor programs.
• Interview and assess customer needs and other relevant factors; develop service plans.
• Provide case management services to monitor compliance and track expenditures.
