Job summary

Jacobs is seeking an Expediting Technician for Advanced Manufacturing to support post-award administrative activities on capital equipment purchase orders. You will expedite supplier deliverables, coordinate with engineering and project teams, and ensure on-time delivery while following defined procedures.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree in a related field, MS Office proficiency, and a motivation to grow in procurement within a hybrid work environment.

Responsibilities

• Expedite assignments for minor criticality, standard materials or less complex fabricated materials.
• Ensure purchase orders are completed with data supply, interface coordination, timely inspection, and on-time delivery.
• Facilitate timely information flow between suppliers, engineering, project management, and construction.
• Verify that terms and conditions of purchase orders are met.
• Ensure timely submittal of drawings and data from the supplier and timely return from engineering.
• Create supplier slip alert notices and meeting notes as required.
• Produce expediting reports to projects and document in the materials management system.
• Review supplier progress milestones and inspection reports for potential issues.
• Monitor supplier performance schedules and action items to prevent delays.
• Apply policies to maximize expeditor contribution and resolve expediting-related problems.

As an Expediting Technician for Advanced Manufacturing you will be responsible for performing administrative post-award support on capital equipment purchase orders under close supervision and in accordance with clearly defined procedures.

Join a knowledgeable and supportive team as you effectively and proactively expedite assigned purchase orders to ensure all requirements are accomplished in a timely manner as promised by the supplier. The Expediting Technician demonstrates basic knowledge of procurement principles and practices, techniques of ensuring task completion, project delivery processes, and supplier relationship expectations.

The Expediting Technician reports directly to a Purchasing Manager or Director of Supply Management for AM. While supporting Jacobs' Projects, the Purchasing Technician will report indirectly to the assigned Project Procurement Manager (PPM), Expediting Lead, or Purchasing Lead.

Here’s What You’ll Do

• Performs expediting activities for assignments of minor criticality, standard materials or less complex fabricated materials not requiring shop visits
• Ensure all requirements specified in the purchase orders are accomplished with regards to data supply, coordination of interfaces, timely inspection, and on-time delivery
• Facilitate the timely flow of information and services to and from the suppliers, engineering, project management, and construction
• Ensure term and conditions of purchase orders are met for materials/equipment procured
• Ensure timely submittal of drawings and data from the supplier and timely return from engineering
• Issue supplier slip alert notices as required
• Issue meeting notes for supplier contacts
• Issue expediting reports to the projects
• Input information into the project specified materials management system to document purchase order expediting history
• Review and approve supplier progress milestones
• Review inspection reports for potential problems and further actions
• Maintain status information on supplier performance schedules, purchase orders, correspondence problems and action items
• Monitor project performance to facilitate early identification and resolution of potential expediting related problems, changes, disputes and claims
• Utilize established policies and procedures to assure maximum contribution by expeditor
• Evaluate facts regarding expediting-related problem areas, determine the most appropriate remedial actions, and implement such actions through available means
• Safeguard on-time delivery to project location.

Ideally, you'll have

• 3.0 GPA or higher in last class enrollment
• Experience in Specialized Manufacturing, Data Centers, Biopharmaceutical/Life Science Manufacturing Projects is preferred.

The base salary range for this position is $58,656.00 to $76,450.00. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
