Job summary

AIS Infrastructure Group in Chattanooga is seeking a Junior Estimator to support cost estimates for heavy civil projects under the guidance of senior estimators. You will perform quantity takeoffs, assist with subcontractor pricing, review drawings, and help prepare bid packages.

• Strong mathematical and analytical skills.
• High attention to detail and accuracy.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Effective written and verbal communication.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a team.
• Willingness to learn heavy civil construction estimating practices.
• Ability to learn construction drawings and specifications.
• Ability to learn estimating software such as HCSS HeavyBid and Trimble Viewpoint Vista and other relevant pre-construction software.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the full estimating process from beginning to submission.
• Prepare cost estimates for heavy civil construction projects.
• Perform quantity takeoffs under the direction of senior estimating staff.
• Solicit pricing from subcontractors, suppliers, and vendors.
• Research current material pricing, labor rates, and equipment costs.
• Help maintain estimating databases and historical cost information.
• Maintain organized estimating files, bid documentation and software.
• Review drawings, specifications, geotechnical reports, and contract documents to understand project scope.
• Enter labor, equipment, material, and subcontractor pricing into estimating software.
• Prepare bid documents and proposal packages.
• Participate in pre-bid meetings and site visits when required.
