DelDOT Maintenance & Operations Division is seeking an entry-level Equipment Operator I to learn department rules and operate a range of road maintenance equipment.

Positions require overtime during storms and emergencies, and successful candidates will work under supervision while gaining experience in equipment handling and safety protocols. Valid driver's license and potential CDL are essential. Training provided for qualification upgrades.

Competenze

• Valid driver’s license required.
• CDL Class A or B license required or obtainable within the initial 90-day period.
• Knowledge of preventative maintenance on vehicles and equipment.

Mansioni

• Operate on/off-road equipment to haul supplies to and from the work site.
• Control equipment with integrated systems and adjust levers, gears, valves and switches.
• Dig, ditch, slope, strip, grade, backfill, mow, and clear/excavate as needed.
• Load/unload rock, debris, earth, and materials using loaders, trucks, or forklifts.
• Operate hand tools for general repairs of roads, grounds, or structures.
• Perform maintenance and repairs in carpentry, welding, masonry.
• Respond to environmental/highway emergencies to control hazards.
• Use traffic control to manage vehicle movements.
• Conduct preventive maintenance checks and report needs.
• May operate draw and swing bridges as required.
